The Norwich Sports Hall of Fame is a community based organization that was formed in 1968 to recognize and honor the sports-related accomplishments of Norwich area individuals by election and induction into the Sports Hall of Fame. Induction ceremonies are performed on a yearly basis. Also presented annually are the Sportsperson of the Year Award and the Joseph Kapteina Service Award, which is presented to the individual or group that provides outstanding service to the Norwich sports community.
An important facet of the Hall of Fame is the fundraising campaign that is used to sponsor youngsters to attend various summer sports camps in the area. The funds raised each year also permits the Hall of Fame to award college scholarships to graduating high school students. The Hall of Fame provides funds to purchase equipment for Norwich sports leagues and for other financial needs as they arise.

The Hall of Fame Committee is always looking for new members. Induction into the Hall of Fame is not a prerequisite for joining the committee. Typically 8 to 10 meetings are held through the course of the year. The committee is busiest during the months of January, February, March, April and May with the culmination of activities being the induction banquet in June.
If you are interested in joining the Hall of Fame Committee you are encouraged to speak with one of the current committee members or contact us via email. We will get back to you promptly.
